When your roof in Rockwood starts leaking after one of Michigan’s 70-mph storm gusts, you don’t want to wait three weeks for an out-of-area contractor to swing by. Rockwood is about 27 miles south of our shop at 14564 Schaefer Hwy in Detroit — roughly 30 minutes via the Southfield Freeway (M-39) to I-75 South. We cover the whole Metro Detroit area, and we’re one of the established roofing companies you can call when something happens to your roof tonight.
For 20+ years we’ve been replacing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial roofs across Metro Detroit. We’re veteran-owned and family-run. The crew that quotes your roof is the crew you’ll see on it. And if you get a written quote from another licensed roofer in the Rockwood area, we’ll beat it — guaranteed.
Rockwood is a small city — under three square miles — squeezed between the Huron River and the Detroit River at the far south end of Downriver. It broke away from Brownstown Township as a village in 1926 and only became a city in 1964, and the housing tells that story: a compact older core of frame cottages, foursquares and story-and-a-half homes near Fort Street and the Grand Trunk tracks, then block after block of modest postwar ranches and split-levels from the late-1940s through the 1970s building boom, with a thinner layer of newer infill. Roofs here are mostly simple gables and hips on small footprints, which sounds easy until you factor in the river. Proximity to the Huron River mouth means damp air, heavy morning dew, moss and algae streaking on north slopes, and undersized attic ventilation on those postwar houses that turns into ice damming every February.
We work on these exact homes every week:
If your home is in the 48173 ZIP code, there’s a good chance we’ve already done a roof on your block.
Southeast Michigan storm seasons are getting more aggressive. Most seasons bring at least one round of 60 to 70 mph wind gusts and hail across the area. Wind lifts and tears shingles. Hail leaves invisible bruises that turn into leaks two storms later. Then ice dams in February finish the job.
When you call after a storm, we’ll:
We’ve been doing storm response across Metro Detroit long enough that local insurance adjusters know our work.
All work comes with our 10-year labor warranty on top of the manufacturer’s shingle warranty.
We work across all of Rockwood, with most of our recent jobs concentrated in or around:
We also work near landmarks like the mouth of the Huron River, Lake Erie Metropark and its marina, Shumate Middle School and Carlson High School on West Jefferson. Rockwood is served by the Gibraltar School District, which also covers Gibraltar, Woodhaven and parts of Brownstown Township and Flat Rock. School families across the district make up a big share of our local customer base.
We also serve the adjacent communities of Gibraltar, Brownstown Township, Flat Rock and South Rockwood — so if friends or family nearby need roof work, you can refer with confidence.
Veteran-owned and family-run. Ted Thompson started T&M Roofing in Detroit after 20+ years of doing the work himself. He still walks every Rockwood job before we finalize the quote.

Price-beat guarantee. Bring us a written quote from any licensed Rockwood-area roofer and we’ll beat it.
